LATEST: Bollywood star SANJAY DUTT has appealed to India's Supreme Court to review his conviction and sentence for illegal weapons possession.
Dutt was jailed for six years last week (31Jul07) for the crime in relation to the serial bombings in Mumbai in 1993, which claimed 257 lives.
But lawyers say he's pressing for the sentence to be overturned, and filed legal papers on Tuesday (07Aug07).
His lawyer Satish Maneshinde says, "We have filed the application at the Supreme Court challenging the court conviction and sentencing, while seeking bail for our client."
The court has yet to set a date for the hearing.
