CAMILLA IN DIANA MEMORIAL INVITATION CONTROVERSY

British royal CAMILLA, DUCHESS OF CORNWALL is the focus of fierce debate in the British press over her invitation to a Diana memorial service.

Diana, Princess of Wales, famously branded Prince Charles' second wife the "third person" in her own marriage to the heir to the throne before their divorce in 1996.

But despite the tensions, Diana's children Princes William and Harry have invited Camilla to a service later this month (31Aug07) marking the 10th anniversary of her death - and newspapers are divided over whether she should accept it.

The Daily Express quotes Diana's friend Margaret Funnell, who insists, "Camilla cannot be allowed to go. This is the biggest insult."

Other publications concentrate on those who haven't been invited to the event - including Diana's butler Paul Burrell, who was tried for theft in 2002 and released a tell-all book about his time in royal employment a year later (03).
