SOPRANOS SUV + CRUISE CAR FAIL TO SELL AT AUCTION

LATEST: TONY SOPRANO's Chevrolet Suburban SUV and TOM CRUISE's DAYS OF THUNDER stock car are among the movie memorabilia items that failed to sell at a two-day auction last week (02-03Aug07).

Both vehicles were removed from the Profiles In History sale when bidding failed to reach their reserve prices.

The Sopranos vehicle was expected to fetch between $30,000 (GBP15,000) and $50,000 (GBP25,000), while bidding on the Cruise car failed to hit $40,000 (GBP20,000).

And they weren't the only motors which stalled at the auction - an original screen-used General Lee car from The Dukes Of Hazzard TV show also failed to sell.

Profiles In History spokesman Brian Chanes says, "We have no explanation. We've sold the Knight Rider car here and (TV detective) Magnum's Ferrari but these vehicles didn't sell. At present there's no word as to whether we'll attempt to sell them at a later auction."
