LEVENE PAYS TRIBUTE TO SNYDER

Former THE CLASH rocker KEITH LEVENE has paid tribute to late TV talk show host TOM SNYDER.

The star was famously interviewed by Snyder alongside Public Image Limited bandmate John Lydon (formerly known as Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols) in 1980.

But the pair refused to co-operate with the host for 12 minutes - making it one of the most famous television interviews.

However, Levene believes the stunt has provided him with fond memories of the Snyder.

He says, "I am very sad to hear the news that Tom Snyder has passed away. He was a brilliant asset to television, a great example and role model.

"I had a memorable interview with Tom and memories of it are flooding back fast following this tragic news. Although it was a different style of interview, Tom still managed to keep his cool and his professionalism intact. Tom is a TV talk show saint who will live in our memories forever - bless you Tom."

Snyder passed away in San Francisco on Sunday (29Jul07) aged 71, after suffering from complications with leukaemia.
