STEP UP 2 THE STREETS PRODUCTION RELEASE & CONTEST INFO!

Touchstone Pictures/Summit Entertainment’s STEP UP 2 THE STREETS is in theaters Thursday, February 14, 2008

Principal photography begins July 30 in Baltimore on “Step Up 2 The Streets,” follow-up to the 2006 Touchstone Pictures’/Summit Entertainment sensation “Step Up.” Jon Chu directs this sequel to the coming-of-age dance film starring newcomer Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman (“You Got Served,” “She's the Man”), Telisha Shaw and Adam G. Sevani. Also starring is singer/model/actress Cassie, who will sing a song featured in the film and on the soundtrack. “Step Up 2 The Streets” returns to the Maryland School of the Arts and follows the story of popular dance student Patrick (Hoffman) and rebellious new student Andie (Evigan).

“Step Up 2 The Streets” reunites producers Patrick Wachsberger and Erik Feig of Summit Entertainment with Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot of Offspring Entertainment, who also produced the original “Step Up.” Meredith Milton, David Nicksay and Anne Fletcher are executive producers. Returning to choreograph the dance-intensive film is Jamal Sims, who will be joined by Hi-Hat (“hip-hop’s high diva of dance”), and Dave Scott (“Stomp the Yard”). The production team also includes Devorah Herbert as the production designer and Max Malkin will be serving as director of photography.

The Contest

Building on the phenomenal success of STEP UP, Touchstone Pictures is giving fans across the country an opportunity to be part of the sequel, STEP UP 2 THE STREETS. Users have 3 ways to be a part of the movie for a priceless chance to:

1. Display their Talent as a Solo Dancer on the Big Screen
2. Perform in the Film with their Dance Crew
3. Appear as a Singer on the Official Soundtrack

To enter, users are invited to join the STEP UP 2 THE STREETS MySpace profile (www.myspace.com/StepUpMovie) and record themselves or their dance groups dancing to a demo track from the film’s soundtrack by August 10, 2007. A group of finalists will be selected by the filmmaking team – including director Jon Chu, lead actors Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman, as well as choreographers from the film. MySpace users will vote for the ultimate winners who are expected to appear in the film.

In October, a second contest will allow aspiring singers a chance to record a track for the film’s official soundtrack, appearing alongside multi-platinum artists to be named.

In addition to a chance to be in the movie, a number of dance entries will have the chance to appear in the film’s end credits, allowing selected participants to see his or her submission on the big screen.

Together, these two contests empower artists around the world and provide a legitimate vehicle for fans to be part of the filming process in a truly unique, unparalleled way. It allows users to take part in the film, create a community for fans and be awarded with a big payoff in return.
