Fiery British hitmaker M.I.A. has no regrets about militant leaning songs that contributed in landing her on America's people-of-interest list - because she felt it was her duty to rap about terrorism.
The rapper, real name Maya Arulpragasam, had to pull out of a performance at the Sasquatch music festival in Washington in May (07) after failing to sort out visa issues in time.
Many believe M.I.A's provocative lyrics about the Palestinian Liberation Organisations and terrorist groups around the world contributed to her visa issues.
But M.I.A, the daughter of a former Tamil Tigers militant, says, "That came out of me. That was me talking about those things I wanted to.
"In 2002 and 2003, those things needed to be said, in my opinion.
"No one was singing about a million people dying in Iraq and us (Britain and America) f**king up and Saddam (Hussein) being hanged."
