Blues guitarist BILL PERRY has died. He was 49.
The musician, who was discovered by Woodstock folk legend Richie Havens, died of a suspected heart attack on Tuesday (17Jul07).
He was found in his New York apartment where medics tried to revive him, but he died en route to the hospital.
Havens has paid tribute to his former bandmate, saying, "Billy was a great friend, a truly gifted guitar player, and one of the funniest people I've ever known. Our times on the road together were some of the best times I've ever had."
Music producer Popa Chubby adds, "He was a natural. He could sing the phone book and draw you in."
