ROONEY rocker ROBERT SCHWARTZMAN remains unfazed when people assume the band has only got as far as it has because of his family connections.
Rooney at Z100's Zootopia held at Madison Square Garden. New York. 21.05.04
Schwartzman's mother is actress Talia Shire; his brother is actor Jason Schwartzman; his uncle is director Francis Ford Coppola; his cousins include Nicolas Cage and Sofia Coppola; and his late grandfather was movie composer Carmine Coppola.
The 24-year-old insists he is used to strangers attributing the band's success to the power his relatives wield in the entertainment industry.
He says, "Some people do it (judge the band because of his connections). There are a lot of people who think like that. It's foolish to judge it for those reasons. If you like it you like it, and if you don't that's OK.
"I'm lucky to come from a family of great artists. I do what I like. My grandparents were Italian composers so I'm excited to make this my career."

AMY WINEHOUSE worried fans at a comeback gig in the U.K by hitting herself repeatedly on the head with a microphone and walking off-stage midway through her final song.
Amy Winehouse performs at the 2007 Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm, Pilton. Somerset, England - 22.06.07
The singer axed a string of concerts in her home country earlier this month (Jul07) citing "exhaustion" and was ordered by doctors to rest.
Despite performing again at the Eden Project in Cornwall on Tuesday (17Jul07), Winehouse's bizarre behaviour during her set increased concerns for her health.
A fan tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "Everyone thought Amy was acting rather strangely.
"She was wobbling around the stage, muttering to herself, swearing and slapping herself in the face. It was as though she was trying to snap herself out of something.
However, a spokesperson for the star explains, "Amy was annoyed with herself. She is a bit ring-rusty after not having played for a while and was upset after making a few mistakes in the set."

LATEST: The mother of REMY MA's alleged shooting victim has blasted the troubled rapper for denying she fired a gun at her friend.
The hip-hop star, real name Remy Smith, was arrested on Saturday (14Jul07) over the shooting of 23-year-old Makeda Barnes-Joseph in New York City's Meatpacking district. The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Smith is currently free on a $250,000 (GBP125,000) bond after being charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. On Monday (16Jul07), she declared, "I didn't shoot my friend! I didn't shoot nobody!"
Christina Barnes, mother of injured Makeda, is furious at Smith's denial, telling the New York Daily News, "She shot my child and she knows that. When the day comes, we'll all find out for sure."
Smith is alleged to have shot Makeda at a pizza bar after accusing the latter of stealing $3,000 (GBP1,500).
Christina insists, "Makeda would never steal money. She doesn't need it and I didn't raise her like that."

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and estranged wife HEATHER MILLS are still at odds over a divorce settlement, according to British reports.
PAUL McCARTNEY and HEATHER MILLS
The Times newspaper claims the former Beatle has offered $40 million (GBP20 million) to Mills, who retorted she'll accept no less than $100 million (GBP50 million) of his estimated $1.65 billion (GBP825 million) fortune.
It now looks likely the pair will be forced to battle out their disagreements in court, with an unidentified lawyer telling the newspaper, "It could well go to trial because they are both quite stubborn."
The pair announced the split in May last year (06). They have a three-year-old daughter, Beatrice, together.

MISCHA BARTON's rocker ex-boyfriend CISCO ADLER has been videoed bragging about his success with famous women, boasting 'I'm privileged'.
The Whitestarr frontman admits his band is yet to taste success, but his lovelife is triumphant - he counts Barton and Kimberly Stewart among his ex-loves.
On a video posted on Contagorecords.com, Cisco is seen boasting about his fortunate life.
He says, "I have some sort of gift with women... I tend to find myself dating famous women sometimes. I just write dope songs and f**k hot bitches.
"The Whitestarr camp has a lot of things. Big houses, fancy cars, lots of women, but we've never actually sold a record. A lot of people don't like to take us seriously... because we are 'privileged children'.
"We're lucky enough to have a pool, but not a pool cleaner. I'm privileged because my father has money... I have that stigma attached. But if I could buy a platinum record, I would have bought it a long time ago."

Rapper 50 CENT is looking forward to a new American president next year (08) - because he hates current leader GEORGE W. BUSH.
The hip-hop star - real name Curtis Jackson - was a one-time fan of the political figure, telling interviewers in 2005, "I wanna...shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him."
But the In Da Club hitmaker has made a dramatic u-turn, accusing Bush of being cruel and heartless.
He tells New York Magazine, "George Bush has a talent: he has less compassion than the average human. By all means, I don't aspire to be like George Bush."
The President has lost public support in the polls in recent years following wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

MODEST MOUSE frontman ISAAC BROCK blames a pre-show concoction of coffee and whisky he drank to soothe a sore throat for his recent chest-slashing stage antics.
The singer stunned bandmates and fans during a March (07) show in Sioux Falls, South Dakota when he slashed himself twice across the chest and performed the concert with blood streaming from the wound.
Brock admits a sore throat is to blame for his bloody actions.
He explains, "I just got feisty. I was actually having a pretty damn-good time.
"I had lost my voice during the Portland (Oregon) shows and if you drink a thing of warn Scotch, it opens up your vocal cords a bit. That's a recording trick I learned.
"So I was drinking some sort of single-malt whisky and coffee and I was just hyper."

British super-producer MARK RONSON has turned down the opportunity to work with BOB DYLAN and PAUL WELLER to ensure he has enough studio time with AMY WINEHOUSE.
The New York-based star has been offered the chance to collaborate with veteran rockers Dylan and Weller, but he would prefer to concentrate on young female British acts Lily Allen and Winehouse.
He says, "I'm getting lots of people come forward and saying they like what I do, which is mind-blowing - especially when it is the likes of Dylan and Weller.
"Mani (Gary Mounfield ) from the Stone Roses came up to me at a party and said I should cover one of their tracks. I was blown away as they're one of my favourite bands of all time.
"But Amy and Lily are my priority. As long as they want me to work with me, I'll do something with them."
Meanwhile, Ronson reveals his contribution to Winehouse's Mercury Prize nominated album Back to Black has earned him more money than his hit 2007 album Version.
He adds, "Back to Black is most people's favourite album of the last year. Amy's sold 20 times as many albums as I have and I wrote a song on that so that's where my money is coming from."

THE KOOKS frontman LUKE PRITCHARD has been blasted by fans after allegedly lashing out in a London airport following an autograph request.
The British singer, who was returning from a break in Dublin, Ireland, earlier this month (Jul07), flew into a rage at Gatwick Airport when approached by Donald Weir to sign some merchandise.
Weir tells The Sun newspaper, "I am a massive fan so I went over and said so but Luke turned round and told me to f**k off.
"I apologised for intruding but told him there was no need to speak to me like that. That just set him off. As I walked away he started charging at me as if he was going to swing at me.
"He stank of booze and was swaying from side to side. A girl with him had to pull him back and shouted at him to stop behaving like an idiot. But he started screaming at her to f**k off.
"One lad on his flight told me Liam had been ranting at other people."

Latin heart-throb ENRIQUE IGLESIAS was so terrified ahead of his first ever gay concert in London last month (Jun07), he was convinced the audience were going to boo him.
Iglesias surprised his manager when he declared he would love to perform at the G.A.Y. night at the British capital's Astoria venue, but is glad the gamble paid off.
He says, "It was my first time performing at a gay club. But I didn't know what to expect. You get nervous, you have this adrenaline, you're going to perform for 3,000 gay men - you don't know if they're going to be silent, if they're going to boo you.
"I loved it. It's funny, the owner called my manager and said, 'We figured Enrique is probably going to say no....' And I said, 'Yeah. Are you kidding me?'
"I know the gay audience is very loyal. The guy that I work with, produce all the records with, he's gay. The first person I called was him. I was like, 'Man, guess what we're doing.' He was like, 'We gotta do it. It's going to be great.' When I went on stage, they were singing so loud I couldn't hear myself. My ears were ringing for two days, I promise."

Behind the songs, behind the dance, the spotlight, and far away from Simon Cowell, there's the real woman behind the headlines – pop icon Paula Abdul.
Kicking off Bravo's third night of original programming on Thursday, June 28, with back-to-back episodes from 10-10:30PM ET/PT and 10:30-11PM, the 30-minute docu-drama series "Hey Paula" provides an unfiltered, real-life look at the "American Idol" judge, entrepreneur, choreographer and multi-platinum artist, giving insight and context to Abdul's much-reported on professional and personal life. "Hey Paula" will air regularly every Thursday, from 10-10:30PM ET/PT.
"Hey Paula" paints a three-dimensional portrait of Abdul and her "Crazy Cool" world – from the stressed celebrity and tough business woman to the comedic prankster. Viewers will see Abdul up close 24/7 as she battles insomnia during the much-talked-about "American Idol" satellite media tour interviews; bumps heads with QVC execs; develops her own fragrance and plays practical jokes on her assistants. Through it all, Abdul has a knack for being able to laugh along the way. On her singing career, she quips, "Last time I had a hit record, Bill and Hillary were having sex…that's a long time ago." And Abdul jokes about Cowell with a QVC security guard, "If someone comes that has dark hair, that looks like Beavis and Butthead haircut and has a tight shirt…and he has a British accent, do not let him in."
Additionally, the seven-episode series features the posse of people essential in keeping the Abdul empire running smoothly. The "Hey Paula" players include Daniel, her hairstylist and BFF, who always promises a good time; Jeff, her longtime (and now former) publicist of seven years, who protects her like a sister; Kylie, her full-time wardrobe assistant, who keeps Abdul looking her best; and Abdul's kids…her four Chihuahuas – Bessie Moo, Chomps, Thumbelina and Tulip.
In the first episode of "Hey Paula," a whirlwind 48 hours lies ahead for the star and "Team Abdul." As Abdul gets red-carpet ready for the Grammys, her Chihuahua "Chomps" chomps down on a loaned million dollar antique ring, much to the chagrin of the overprotective jewelry rep, and a call from the Bratz filmmakers creates additional drama. Immediately after the awards, Abdul changes out of her Valentino gown in the car, while making a mad dash to catch a red eye, and nearly misses the flight. But the day's not over and there's no time to rest for an exhausted Abdul. Landing in Philly, she heads over to QVC to see her jewelry designs, only to find they're not what she envisioned. If it's not up to par, Abdul's not putting her name behind it. With just a few hours before the live QVC show, she voices her concerns. Will the changes to Abdul's jewelry line be made in time? Just an average day in the life of Paula Abdul.
Abdul's off to NYC in the second installment of "Hey Paula" for a jam-packed week filled with events, meetings and press. Abdul and her publicist Jeff begin the trip at the annual dinner for the Young Menswear Association Fashion Scholarship Fund for Parson School of Design, where she's presented with the Fashion Icon Award by Tim Gunn – a true honor, since Abdul's graced the worst dressed list more than once. But by the time she gets to her hotel, it's 4am. With just two hours of sleep, Abdul attempts to grab some shuteye after a meeting with her perfume manufacturers, but ends up losing a battle with insomnia, and continues to miss night after night of sleep. A full week of meetings later, with no zzz's, combined with catching the flu, Abdul must get through a series of satellite interviews to promote "American Idol." And this is when she makes headlines once again.
