DOHERTY 'NOT IN REHAB'

PETE DOHERTY's lawyer has dismissed reports the troubled rocker has quit rehab - insisting the star is not due to begin a detox program until next week (begs23Jul07).

The Babyshambles frontman was ordered by a judge to undergo rehab by 7 August (07) or face a jail sentence - after pleading guilty in a London court to drug possession charges relating to an arrest in May (07).

However, claims in the British media Doherty walked out of an intensive five-day programme at the Detox 5 clinic in Harrogate, England, on Monday (16Jul07) after just one day are unfounded, according to his lawyer Sean Curran.

Curran confirmed the star had been in the North Yorkshire town at the weekend (14-15Jul07), but reiterated Doherty was not due in rehab until 23 July.

He says, "Pete has been in Harrogate over the weekend, but is not due in the clinic. He is due at the clinic next Monday."
