MICHAEL DOUGLAS has tamed his wife CATHERINE ZETA-JONES' fiery Welsh temper by simply refusing to have shouting matches with her.

The Chicago star admits she could be very temperamental in past relationships but her husband of seven years has taught her that shouting and screaming rarely helps you win an argument.

She tells Parade magazine, "Michael and I have been married seven years (and) I've known him nine years. We've never screamed at each other.

"We disagree, yeah, but we never shout... I did the screaming thing before. It doesn't work. I've realised that you can actually say what you need to say.

"People can tell from my tone of voice (that I'm annoyed). And my kids know when I raise my finger or do 'the eyes' that I mean it.

"I don't put up with much. I'm kind to everybody. But don't ever cross me, because I'll let you know (how I feel)."
