FANTASTIC FOUR star MICHAEL CHIKLIS was amazed when he went to his first comic book convention, because he had no idea how obsessed some fans are.
The 43-year-old, who plays Ben Grimm in Fantastic Four and its recent sequel Rise Of The Silver Surfer, always thought of himself as a comic nerd until he went to a convention.
He tells American magazine Maxim, "Fantastic Four fans are a rabid fanboy geek set.
"I've always considered myself a comic book fan, but after meeting the Fantastic Four die hards, I realised I was just a kid who liked comics.
"I remember stepping out of the car one year at Comic-Con and seeing a dozen Imperial Storm Troopers (from Star Wars) walk past me, and I was like, 'Oo-o-kay.'
"It's not like they were wearing shoddy, homemade costumes - these guys looked perfect. They could have been in the flick. They're in their 40s and still dressing up like superheroes and vampires.
"It was a strange experience."
