POLICE SHUT DOWN PRINCE GIG

Pop star PRINCE wowed music fans in Minneapolis, Minnesota with three shows in 12 hours - but was ordered to finish early by police.

PRINCE

The When Doves Cry star honoured his home town with a series of gigs on Saturday (07Jul07). He first performed a 45-minute set at department store Macy's, before playing at the Target Centre arena.

He then closed the night's proceedings with an intimate late show at First Avenue - the famed club which was featured in his movie Purple Rain.

However, his 24-song set was cut short by nine tunes after police shut down the gig at 4am, which according to the city's laws is when all music must stop.

He told the disappointed crowd, "The authorities say we gotta go. We always listen to the authorities. I promise I'll be back."
