A cooking rat beat BRUCE WILLIS to the top of the U.S. box office, but the action man is still celebrating after his latest DIE HARD adventure raked in a cool $48.2 million (GBP24.1 million) in just four days.
Remy, Skinner and Linguini in 'Ratatouille'
Pixar animated movie Ratatouille, which opened a day later than Live Free + Die Hard, was the weekend's big winner, with an estimated $47.2 million (GBP23.6 million) haul over the traditional weekend period.
The fourth Die Hard movie made $33.2 million (GBP16.6 million) over the same period.
Evan Almighty, the most expensive comedy ever made, slipped from number one to number three with a second-weekend take of $15.1 million (GBP7.55 million).
The film, starring Steve Carrel as a latter-day Noah, has scored a two-week total of $60.6 million (GBP30.3 million), and has some way to go to level it's reported $175 million (GBP87.5 million) budget.
