STRANGERS TRIED TO VISIT HILTON IN JAIL

Socialite PARIS HILTON was inundated by visiting requests from strangers pretending to her relatives during her recent stay in a Los Angeles jail.

Hilton, who served 23 days of a 45-day sentence after being found guilty of violating her probation from a drink-driving arrest last year (06), was permitted four visitors per week.

But many more people tried to lie their way into jail to chat to Hilton.

The 26-year-old told U.S. newsman Larry King in a televised interview on Wednesday (27Jun07), "There was a lot of random people. The officers would be like, 'Do you know John whatever? There were just random people pretending to be related to me.

"A lot of people would just pretend to know me to get in."
