HARRY REFUSES TO WEAR WIGS

BLONDIE frontwoman DEBORAH HARRY was shocked when her trademark platinum locks began to break off - but refused to wear a wig to hide her trauma.

The star's iconic blonde hair had suffered the effects of high-strength bleach since her teenage years, but Harry insists she remained upbeat about her loss.

She says, "I first bleached my hair when I was about 13. It started to break off from over-bleaching when I was in my forties. Was it traumatic? I just had to deal with it - that's what happens when you peroxide your hair for years."

But she admits wig-wearing was never an option: "I just cut it shorter; wigs aren't practical when you are a performer and want to move about on stage becasue they don't always come with you."
