SOUTH AFRICAN LIVE EARTH VENUE DOWNSIZED

The venue playing host to the South African leg of the forthcoming Live Earth event has been changed due to poor ticket sales.

Gig-goers were set to attend the climate awareness gig at Maropeng on 7 July (07), but will now be relocated to the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg - a smaller 18,000 capacity venue.

The 45-minute drive to the original venue and a lack of public transport have also been blamed for the concert's relocation, which is set to feature performances by British soul star Joss Stone and African musicians.

Last week (ends24Jun07), the Istanbul, Turkey, leg of the global super-gig was cancelled due to a lack of interest from sponsors.
