TURNER SUFFERS STAGE FRIGHT

ARCTIC MONKEYS frontman ALEX TURNER is relieved his performance at England's Glastonbury Festival on Friday (22Jun07) is finally over - after spending months trying to calm his pre-gig nerves.

Turner - who was joined on stage by British rapper Dizzee Rascal for a musical tribute to Dame Shirley Bassey - admits it was a struggle to overcome his stage fright for the Somerset festival this weekend.

He says, "I've been s**t scared and dead nervous about it for ages.

"I didn't walk on thinking it would look like just another festival. In my head it was like 'This is going to be a one off thing' and it were, very much so.

"It's unreal, that's the word I'd use, absolutely. Everything about it is terrific."
