ARCTIC MONKEYS' POET INSPIRATION

British band ARCTIC MONKEYS have invited English 'punk poet' John Cooper Clarke to write a lyric for their new single.

Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys performing live at Coachella Music & Arts Festival - Day 1. Indio, California - 27.04.07

Clarke is one of the biggest names in performance poetry and Monkeys frontman Alex Turner claims his poems have heavily influenced the group's work.

Turner met Clarke when he was 16 when the poet performed at the singer's old pub workplace in Sheffield, England, five years ago (02).

Clarke has contributed a rhyme for the sleeve of the group's new single Fluorescent Adolescent.
