FORMER SPECTOR ATTORNEY JAILED FOR CONTEMPT

LATEST: PHIL SPECTOR's former lawyer has been jailed for contempt of court after again refusing to testify at the music producer's murder trial yesterday (18Jun07).

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Fidler ordered a tearful Sara Caplan remain in jail until she answers questions about what she saw during a search at Spector's Alhambra, California mansion.

Caplan repeatedly refused to answer the prosecution's questions, citing lawyer/client confidentiality.

Judge Fidler told the court, "I can admire what she's doing and what she's going through. I cannot allow it and I cannot find it to be an adequate explanation or a basis for a refusal to testify."

Last month (May07), Caplan testified at an evidentiary hearing and claimed she saw forensic scientist Dr. Henry Lee remove a small white object during a search of the area where actress Lana Clarkson's body was found the day after she died.

Spector is accused of the fatal shooting of Clarkson at his home in February 2003. He has pleaded not guilty and claims Clarkson committed suicide.

The trial continues.
