ROCKERS GATHER TO PAY TRIBUTE TO DISNEY

A host of rockers including SHANE McGOWAN, NICK CAVE, BRYAN FERRY, BETH ORTON and PETE DOHERTY are teaming up to pay tribute to the Disney songbook this weekend (17Jun07).

Sunday's one-off event, Forest Of No Return - Hal Willner Presents The Vintage Disney Songbook, at London's South Bank Centre will see the left-field stars playing their favourite songs from Disney movies.

Among the performances will be Babyshambles frontman Doherty playing Chim Chiminey from Mary Poppins and Jarvis Cocker covering I Wanna Be Like You from The Jungle Book.

Legendary musician Van Dyke Parks is organising the event, while Hal Willner, a producer on U.S. TV show Saturday Night Live, is presenting it.
