MICHAEL THANKS FANS FOR UNWAVERING SUPPORT

British pop star GEORGE MICHAEL thanked his fans for their continued support last night (09Jun07) as he played the first ever concert at London's new Wembley Stadium.

The Too Funky singer's performance came just 24 hours after he was sentenced to 100 hours community service for charges of driving while unfit through drugs, following his October (06) arrest, where he was found slumped behind the wheel of his car in central London.

Thankful to have evaded a jail term for his offences, the 43-year-old was overwhelmed by the devotion shown by the 90,000 fans who attended the sold-out gig.

During the gig, Michael exclaimed, "F**k I'm actually here, I don't believe it. So before I get carried away with the evening's proceedings I would like to say, for these 25 long years thank you so much."
