PIRATES SEQUEL SUFFERS A DROP IN BOOTY BUT STILL SAILS STRONG

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END is America's number one film for the second successive week, despite a 62.4 per cent fall in booty from last weekend.

The blockbuster sequel took in $43.2 million (GBP21.6 million), compared to the $114.7 million (GBP57.4 million) it made in a three-day period a week ago.

Knocked Up is a new entry at number two, taking $29.3 million (GBP14.7 million) - almost as much money as the $33 million (GBP16.5 million) cost to make.

Animated adventure Shrek The Third drops a place to third with $26.7 million (GBP13.4 million), while Kevin Costner movie Mr. Brooks is a new entry at four with $10 million (GBP5 million).

Superhero film Spider-Man 3 is at number five with $7.5 million (GBP3.8 million), taking its total U.S. box-office gross to $318 million (GBP159 million).
