SPECTOR COURT HEARS ARGUMENTS OVER VICTIM'S DIARY

LATEST: The PHIL SPECTOR murder trial has heard arguments for and against introducing a diary written by Lana Clarkson, in which the shooting victim wrote about her depression, a fascination with guns and visions of a dead actress.

Jurors were ordered out of the Los Angeles court yesterday (31May07) so Judge Paul Fidler could listen to the defence and prosecution's arguments over Clarkson's writings.

Prosecutors admitted they were aware of the diary but believe it to be untrustworthy and so did not send it to the coroner's office.

Earlier in the day (31May07) when the jurors were still in the courtroom, Deputy Medical Examiner Louis Pena said he didn't perform a "psychological autopsy" on Clarkson because he had ruled her death wasn't a suicide, but a homicide.

Spector is accused of the fatal shooting of Clarkson at his home in Alhambra, California in February 2003. He has pleaded not guilty and claims Clarkson committed suicide.

The trial continues.
