MONTANEZ DEFIES BUSH OVER CUBA

Puerto Rican singer ANDY MONTANEZ has vowed to continue touring Cuba, despite pressure from the White House to stay away from the country.

Cuba is under a trade embargo from the U.S. and a majority of Americans are not allowed to visit the island.

However, despite President George W. Bush's firm stance on the issue, Montanez insists he'll always be a willing visitor, "although the president of the United States does not want it."

Speaking last week (24May07) at the Cubadisco Fair 2007 - a music event featuring artists from Argentina, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela - the singer/songwriter added, "When I come to Cuba I feel at home, people enjoy my songs or become sentimental, all due to the affection between us that no one will ever disrupt."

Montanez was awarded a prize of honour at the festival.
