NEWMAN TO RETIRE FROM ACTING

Hollywood legend PAUL NEWMAN is to retire from acting - as he has 'lost confidence' in his movie star skills.

The veteran actor, 82, who has appeared in more than 50 films including Cool Hand Luke, admits his elderly years are behind his decision to withdraw from Tinseltown.

He says, "I'm not able to work anymore as an actor and still at the level that I would want to.

"I'm just, you know, you start to lose your memory, you start to lose your confidence, you start to lose your invention. So I think that's pretty much a closed book for me."
