SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has dismissed reports he failed to honour an appearance on the American Idol finale on Wednesday (23May07) night, insisting he was never invited in the first place.
The former Beatle claims he would have been unable to attend anyway as he's currently promoting his upcoming album Memory Almost Full.
A spokesperson tells website TMZ.com, "Paul was never scheduled or approached to appear on the Idol finale.
"Even if he were, he likely would've needed to decline as he is in the throes of promoting the 5 June release of his new album.
"With that in mind, it would likely make it difficult to refer to him as a no-show."
