BROLIN BEMUSED BY AUDITION TAPE REACTION

Actor JOSH BROLIN suffered serious doubts about his acting future when an audition tape sent to the Coen brothers was met with disinterest.

JAMES BROLIN

The U.S. star was brimming with confidence after securing an enviable role in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's horror feature Grindhouse, when he auditioned for a role in the Coen brothers' new film No Country for Old Men.

However, despite input from his legendary directors on set - who took a break during lunch to film him - Brolin's casting tape failed to inspire his potential new employers.

He recalls, "Their (the Coens') only comment was: 'Who lit it?'

"I guess I didn't make much of an impression."

Despite the rocky start, Brolin was eventually cast as Llewellyn Moss in the thriller, alongside Tommy Lee Jones and Woody Harrelson.
