SIDEWAYS star THOMAS HADEN CHURCH spent two years working out for two hours a day, six days a week to pack on muscle to play heavy hitter The Sandman in Spider-Man 3.

Thomas Haden Church stars as Flint Marko/Sandman in 'Spider-Man 3'

The actor developed an impressive physique but admits he was happy to tone down his freakish shape once the film wrapped.

He says, "I've always worked out, but it started getting into freak-show levels."
