JOHN PEEL WINS POSTHUMOUS AWARD

Legendary DJ JOHN PEEL was last night (30Apr07) honoured posthumously with the Sony Radio Academy Broadcasters' Broadcaster Award in London.

Peel's widow Sheila collected the one-off honour on her late husband's behalf.

Peel died while holidaying in Peru in 2004 and is famed for championing new underground music during his four decades with BBC radio.
