SHARPTON TO MARCH FOR DECENCY IN RAP

US civil rights activist REVEREND AL SHARPTON is launching a national March For Decency on Thursday (03May07) in an effort to persuade rappers to outlaw the words 'bitch,' 'ho' and 'n**ger' in hip-hop tunes.

Sharpton's National Action Network (NAN) will lead the New York march, which will stop at the offices of all the major music labels.

A NAN spokeswoman says, "We aren't marching against artists - we are marching against record companies to ban these words completely."

The daughters of late soul great James Brown, a long time friend of Sharpton's, will join the march.

Following the march and rally, Sharpton and Brown's daughters will attend a tribute to the Godfather of Soul at the Apollo Theater in Harlem on what would have been Brown's 74th birthday.

The NAN spokeswoman adds, "James Brown always said we needed to clean up our music... and so it made sense for this march to take place on this day."
