British rapper DIZZEE RASCAL was once the target of an elaborate kidnap plot by gangsters who planned to hold him ransom in exchange for thousands of pounds from his record label, XL.
The 21-year-old Londoner - born Dylan Mills - rose to fame in 2003 with his hit single I Luv U, and he reveals it was the gang's jealousy of his success that led them to develop the plans of kidnap.
He says, "They were meant to be my friends. But when you start to make a bit of money, people switch on you.
"They get the wrong end of the stick. They think you're this or that, but really it's that they miss you.
"And because of the kind of people they are, they don't deal with it properly. They respond with violence."
