British actor SIR IAN McKELLEN deeply regrets not coming out about his sexuality to his parents, because he knew he was homosexual long before his father passed away in 1962.
The X-MEN star, 67, announced he was homosexual to the world during a BBC radio interview in 1988, but he still feels guilty for not revealing his sexual orientation to his beloved mother Margery, and father Denis.
He says, "I have a few regrets in my life but that is number one. My mother died when I was 12 and my father when I was 24. I knew by then of course.
"I was just getting round to it, thinking this was a conversation I had to have with my father. (Then) he died and I never told him."
