JAZZ PIANIST HILL DEAD AT 75

Jazz pianist ANDREW HILL has died from lung cancer. He was 75.

The star, whose career spanned over 50 years, passed away at his home in Jersey City, New Jersey, after a long battle with the disease, announced his label Blue Note Records yesterday (21Apr07).

Hill was due to receive an honorary doctorate for his contribution to music by the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, next month (May07).

He is survived by his wife, Joanne Robinson Hill.
