GRATEFUL DEAD MANAGER SENTENCED FOR TAX EVASION

RON RAKOW, the GRATEFUL DEAD's former manager, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for tax evasion.

The 69 year old has been found guilty of evading payment of $2.2 million (GBP1.1 million) in taxes owed to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The US attorney's office ordered Rakow to begin his prison term in June (07).

During his two-week trial, prosecutors attempted to prove Rakow had hid assets to prevent the IRS from collecting taxes dating back to 1985.
