WHITE STRIPES BLAME HOAX FOR FAKE TOUR DATES

American rockers THE WHITE STRIPES are blaming an internet hoaxer for reports they are embarking on a massive US tour this year.

A long list of dates appeared on a number of websites last week (ends17MAR07), suggesting the band were preparing a huge tour to promote forthcoming album ICKY THUMP - which is due to be released in June (07).

But JACK and MEG WHITE insist they haven't yet finalised plans to promote the LP.

A statement from their management reads, "The White Stripes have yet to confirm their north American routing as of yet. But we are happy to say that it will include all 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada, as well as the remaining 16 states of the United States the band have yet to play. A few major markets that have been journeyed to in the past, will be also be included."
