GRATEFUL DEAD MANAGER SELLS OFF MEMORABILIA
GRATEFUL DEAD crew manager LAWRENCE 'RAM ROD' SHURTLIFF is auctioning off musical memorabilia he amassed while touring with the band.
Shurtliff is selling off The Eagle, a guitar late rocker JERRY GARCIA used in the early 1970s, as well as the frontman's Travis Bean axe. The guitars are expected to fetch $50,000 (GBP26,000)and $250,000 (GBP128,000) respectively.
Other items include amplifiers with tie-dyed covers and Dead-stickered flight cases.
The most unusual item in the collection is a metal Halliburton case said to have contained the band's "inspirational tools".
The sale is being handled by auction house Bonhams + Butterfields and takes place on 8 May (07).
