ROCK SLAMS BREAK-UP RUMOURS

LATEST: Funnyman CHRIS ROCK is getting deadly serious with media reports his marriage is in trouble.

CHRIS ROCK and wife MALAAK

A day after his publicist denied New York news reports about a rumoured break-up between Rock and his wife MALAAK, the comic has launched his own attack on the publications who are running the incorrect reports.

In a statement Rock, who appeared on pal OPRAH WINFREY's US TV show on Wednesday (28FEB07) with his wife and their two daughters, fumes, "Though we have tried in the past to take the high road and not comment on the tabloid media, we find it necessary to express on record how unfortunate it is that the Daily News, specifically, and other tabloid outlets have chosen to print untrue rumours and lies about our family and marriage.

"It is extremely hurtful to us, our children, and our extended family. We remain, as always, very happy and committed to our marriage and the beautiful family that we have built."

The comedian/actor refused to comment on reports from late last year (06), which stated that he had begun divorce proceedings.

Meanwhile, Rock, who wed Malaak in 1996, told Winfrey, "Now that I have children, I realise taking care of my children is more fun than anything in the whole world."
