STERN LIKENS ALLEGED BREAK-IN + THEFT OF ANNA NICOLE ITEMS TO 'RAPE'

LATEST: ANNA NICOLE SMITH's partner HOWARD K. STERN has told Bahamian police that the home the couple shared was broken into less than 24 hours after the actress/model died last week (08FEB07), likening the theft to "a rape" of the late star.

Stern met with police yesterday (12FEB07) after returning to Nassau from Florida, where his girlfriend died, to be with Smith's five-month-old baby.

He told officials on the island that Anna Nicole's personal items were "stolen" last Friday (09FEB07) before his friend, Bahamian Immigration Minister SHANE GIBSON, managed to enter the home and collect jewellery and baby items later that night.

Stern admitted, "I feel like Anna Nicole has been raped."

In a statement released yesterday (12FEB07), Stern's attorney RON RALE linked the break-in to the home's owner, developer G. BEN THOMPSON.

He said, "Despite an existing injunction from the Bahamas Supreme Court enjoining G. Ben Thompson and his agents from entering the property that was clearly posted on all entrances, persons purporting to act on Mr. Thompson's behalf... entered the house without consent and then the locks were changed.

"Certain of these individuals were also observed removing numerous items from the premises.

"Upon becoming aware of these activities, lawyers representing Anna Nicole's interests obtained another injunction from the Bahamas Supreme Court, and subsequently reacquired possession of the property with the aid of the Bahamas Royal Police Force."

Rale reveals the items reported stolen included computers, DVDs containing all Anna Nicole's personal digital photos and digital home videos, confidential contracts, banking information and Dannielynn's birth certificate.

The attorney adds, "Lawyers representing Anna Nicole's interests are currently working with authorities in the Bahamas and the United States to prosecute all culpable individuals to the fullest extent of the law."
