BROWN'S WIDOW CONTESTS WILL

LATEST: JAMES BROWN's widow TOMI RAE HYNIE is contesting the late singer's will after learning she and her five-year-old son have been cut out.

Hynie, who was a backing singer in Brown's band, claims her son's biological father is the soul great - something the singer's estate disputes.

Hynie had 30 days from Brown's Christmas Day (25DEC06) death to contest the will. Yesterday (24JAN06) was the final day she was able to file a motion.

The details of the will were filed on Thursday (18JAN07) in Georgia.

The document, which was filed in Aiken County, names six children and calls for many household possessions to be divided among them.

The bequest was signed 10 months before the birth of Brown's five-year-old son.

Brown died of heart failure in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital on Christmas morning. He was 73.
