DALTREY PLAYS A WOMAN IN CSI

THE WHO star ROGER DALTREY endured hours in the make-up department for his role in CSI: CRIMINAL SCENE INVESTIGATION, because he plays a middle-aged Afro-American woman.

Daltrey, whose song WHO ARE YOU has been the forensic drama's theme tune since it launched in 2000, plays seventies Mob boss and master of disguise MICKEY DUNN.

Dunn's many faces also include a Spanish fisherman and a karaoke singer.

CSI star MARG HELGENBERGER has praised Daltrey for his versatility, saying, "It's a lot for anyone. He played all these different personas with all this different prosthetic make-up and all these different accents."

Daltrey was asked to make a guest appearance in the hit show when producers found out The Who were touring the US.

He says, "My agent called up and said, 'How would you like to do CSI?' And how could I refuse?

"The show's been so loyal to us, The Who, so it kind of feels like an honour to do it."
