MADONNA'S REPRESENTATIVE DENIES JOLIE SPAT

MADONNA's longtime representative LIZ ROSENBERG insists there is no tension between the pop star and ANGELINA JOLIE because of comments the actress made about the singer to a French magazine.

Jolie was quoted in Gala magazine reportedly criticising Madonna's decision to adopt one-year-old DAVID BANDA from Malawi because there are no clear legal procedures.

Ironically, it was Jolie's boyfriend BRAD PITT who encouraged the HUNG UP singer and husband GUY RITCHIE to adopt when the two couples dined together last year (06).

But Rosenberg has hit out at reports of friction, telling American publication Us Weekly, "I doubt Madonna is aware of Angelina's comments, and I don't think Angelina said anything bad.

"True, it might have been easier had Madonna adopted a child from another country, but Madonna doesn't shy away from things because they are difficult."

Jolie issued a statement on Monday (08JAN07) clarifying her statements to the magazine, saying, "The article included many falsehoods. I said many positive things that were omitted."
