CONDUCTOR FURST DIES

Celebrated Hungarian violinist and conductor JANOS FURST has died in a Paris hospital. He was 71.

He passed away yesterday (04JAN07) after a battle with cancer.

Furst was artistic director of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra, based in the southern Hungarian city of Szeged, since 2002. He also worked with orchestras in Madrid, Prague, Paris and London, among others.

He is survived by his third wife and two sons.
