TIMBERLAKE'S FILM STILL FACING DELAY

LATEST: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's new movie ALPHA DOG faces a lengthy release delay if an accused murderer gets his way in an appeals court.

The film, in which the pop star plays a tattooed killer, premiered in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (03JAN07) and is slated to hit US cinemas next week (12JAN07).

But fans who want to see Timberlake's gritty movie might have to wait a while if real-life alleged murderer JESSE JAMES HOLLYWOOD wins an appeal to block the release of the project, which is based on villainous acts he and his friends are accused of carrying out in 2000.

Attorneys for Hollywood are trying to block Alpha Dog's distribution because their client is awaiting trial for events depicted in the movie.

Writers changed the names of the characters in the film but Hollywood's attorneys argue the publicity surrounding the project identify him and his friends, claiming a jury could be "tainted" by what they see.

Last month (DEC06), a federal judge refused to stop the film's release but Hollywood appealed the decision. The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals is expected to rule early next week (begs08JAN07).
