Japan's national broadcaster NHK has been forced to apologise to viewers after a raunchy performance on a New Year's Eve (31DEC06) music show led audiences to believe the backing dancers were naked.
The dancers, all wearing skin-coloured body suits, were supporting singer DJ OZMA, but their apparent lack of clothing prompted a flood of complaints from over 250 viewers.
A presenter explained at the end of the 57th annual RED AND WHITE SONG CONTEST, "The dancers were wearing body suits, but we apologise for any misunderstanding."
DJ Ozma added to reporters after the programme, "I guess it looked a bit too real."
