JAMES BROWN DIES ON CHRISTMAS DAY

Soul legend James Brown has died in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 73.

The singer was admitted to the city's Emory Crawford Long Hospital yesterday suffering from pneumonia and passed away this morning at 1.45 am (local time) with his longterm friend Charles Bobbit at his bedside.

Brown's agent Frank Copsidas announced the death, but revealed the cause is still unknown.

Dubbed the 'Godfather of Soul', Brown enjoyed a hugely successful music career spanning more than five decades. He recorded 50 albums and scored an astonishing 119 hits in the US charts.

His hits included Get Up (I Feel Like Being Like A) Sex Machine, Papa's Got A Brand New Bag and Please, Please, Please.
