ONO'S EX-DRIVER INDICTED

LATEST: YOKO ONO's former driver was indicted yesterday (19DEC06) on a charge of first-degree attempted grand larceny and refused bail after being deemed a potential flight risk.

KORAL KARSON, 50, pleaded not guilty to the charge before State Supreme Court Justice MICHAEL AMBRECHT in Manhattan, New York.

But Ambrecht ordered Karson, who is originally from Turkey, would not granted bail because his status in America has become the subject of a US Immigration investigation following his arrest last week (13DEC06).

Karson is accused of threatening to release embarrassing tape recordings and candid photographs of Ono, the widow of JOHN LENNON, and threatening to kill her unless she gave him $2 million (GBP1 million).

Karson is due back in court on 11 January (07) and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
