British radio DJ MIKE DICKIN died following a car crash near his Cornwall, England home on Monday (18DEC06). He was 63.
TalkSport host Dickin - who previously worked for BBC Radio 4 - was airlifted to hospital after the pile-up involving six cars, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Dickin was nicknamed The King because of his striking resemblance to 16th century English monarch KING HENRY VIII, and was famed for his outspoken and passionate views.
His colleague JAMES WHALE says, "He was the original grumpy old man. Radio will never be the same."
Two other men were injured in the accident on the A30 near Bodmin.
