ATKINS RETURNS TO ORPHANAGE

Country star RODNEY ATKINS went 'home' for the holidays last week (13DEC06) to perform a special concert to raise funds for the orphanage where he was put up for adoption.

The singer spent the first year of his life at Holston United Methodist Home for Children in Greeneville, Tennessee before he was adopted.

The holiday concert was extra special for Atkins because it gave him the chance to reunite with Holston United's vice president CHARLES HUTCHINS, who was responsible for finding baby Rodney loving parents after two failed attempts.

The singer said, "It's great to have the opportunity to come back and help bring awareness to Holston Home."

Atkins admits the trip back to Greeneville made him realise just how special his own son, ELIJAH, is to him - the youngster is the only biological relative the singer has ever known.
