Legendary soul label Stax is back with a vengeance 46 years after it launched the careers of CARLA THOMAS, BOOKER T + THE MGS, ISAAC HAYES and OTIS REDDING.
Concord Music Group is re-activating the imprint after 30 years with new signings, according to Billboard.com.
The label's first new release will be a tribute to the songs of EARTH, WIND + FIRE's MAURICE WHITE, while Hayes and ANGIE STONE are among the new Stax's first signings.
Concord, which acquired Stax as part of its purchase of Fantasy Records in 2004, will also mark the label's upcoming 50th anniversary by releasing deluxe packages of rare performances and unreleased tracks in deluxe packages.
