Movie musical DREAMGIRLS and THE DEPARTED have been given another Oscars boost after claiming four awards each at the International Press Academy's (IPA) 11th annual Satellite Awards.
Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Departed'
Dreamgirls picked up Best Director (BILL CONDON) and Best Supporting Actress (JENNIFER HUDSON), while The Departed claimed Best Film, Drama and Best Ensemble Cast among its haul.
The Satellite Awards were also good for FOREST WHITAKER (THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND) and HELEN MIRREN (THE QUEEN), who both added to their acting accolades in the drama categories, while MERYL STREEP (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA) and JOSEPH CROSS (RUNNING WITH SCISSORS) claimed the acting honours in the Comedy or Musical categories.
Dreamgirls star Hudson and LEONARDO DiCAPRIO (The Departed) took home Best Supporting Actress and Actor honours.
In the TV categories, medical drama HOUSE and it's star HUGH LAURIE won big, while SALMA HAYEK's new hot show UGLY BETTY claimed Best Comedy and its star TONY PLANA claimed Best Supporting Actor.
JAMES SPADER claimed Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical Series (BOSTON LEGAL), while pregnant DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star MARCIA CROSS took home the Best Actress honour in the same category.
